Fear the Walking Dead season 4 video: Danger, storms, and isolation
Really, the primary reason for our nervousness stems from what happened at the end of the first half of the season. Casting aside a beloved character is a gutsy move on the producers’ part, especially since it’s not a move that Kim Dickens was altogether thrilled with. She wanted to stick around as Madison but, alas, the creative team had some other plans. The challenge now is to give her life meaning and evolve Alicia into more of a leader. The biggest reason to be optimistic now stems from Alycia Debnam-Carey, who we know can carry the material and deliver a strong performance alongside everyone else in this ensemble.
Some of the things that are teased within this latest preview have been hinted at in some other videos as of late, whether it be the isolation, the storms, and of course the walkers. There is a sort of found-footage quality to the preview whether it be the camera-work or some of the near-black-and-white color choices that are made. This feels a little more like you are there on the ground with these characters than it ever does on The Walking Dead and we absolutely like that. It helps this show stand out and gives you an additional reason to watch.
Now that we’ve said this, the story does need to back all of it up. Having an impressive style, as good as it can be, only goes so far. You have to find a way to make the story equally interesting and match the quality of the first eight episodes — arguably the best run on this series to date.
