Casual season 5: Could it ever happen over on Hulu?
At the moment, it certainly does not appear as though the Hulu comedy series has any intention of sticking around to tell us any more stories. Yet, you never quite know for sure what’s going to happen down the road, especially with some of the big swings that the show is doing for season 4. That includes moving the story many years in the future and taking a look at the long-lasting impact of the current Administration in office. This is the sort of concept that could draw more conversation to the show than ever before. We also do think that this is an interesting example of Hulu actually adopting the Netflix model and releasing all of the episodes at once. That feels like a deliberate move here in order to drum up some additional attention around the show.
Even if Casual is in fact done, we do think that it goes down in the Hulu history books as one of the comedy series that really helped to get it going in its early phase of original programming. Many of its original shows are still young, and while we think that The Handmaid’s Tale is really the show that is getting them the most mainstream attention, it’s debatable how possible it would have been without some of the shows that came before it.
Casual has had its moment, and if this is the end it gets to go out knowing that there is so much more story that it could have told. We do think that it’s found itself a pretty solid audience along the way.
