Outlander season 4 teaser; first impressions, Aunt Jocasta, and a filling

Today, Starz debuted the first Outlander season 4 teaser during a fan event for the show and The Spy Who Dumped Me. With that, we’ve got some of the first impressions of it within this particular piece!

The first thing that stands out upon viewing it (which we are bound to do many more times) is the first look at Maria Doyle Kennedy as Aunt Jocasta, who is set to be a major part of season 4 along with the River Run locale. Jamie (Sam Heughan) and Claire (Caitriona Balfe) are now in North Carolina, where things are going to be very different for them. They are starting a life together in a new world, and while things may start out okay, they go to hell in a hand-basket soon after. There are still threats, more danger, romance, and so much more in the trailer. (The image of a noose is particularly harrowing.)

There are also questions aplenty regarding time-travel once more, thanks to a silver filling that should not theoretically exist in this world.

If you watch this teaser closely enough, you can see a number of new faces, but also not so much of a substantial focus to ascertain fully what is going on beyond just that Jamie and Claire are going to find themselves involved in some rather challenging endeavors. This is going to be a season that tests their relationship, and that’s probably what would you would expect given the fact that they are spending substantial time together for the first time in decades. They are rebuilding a life, but unfortunately there will be some who come and try to destroy it.

The one unfortunate thing about this teaser is that we were hoping for more of Roger and Brianna, given that they have such an important part to play within the journey to come. Guess they can’t give it all away!
