Netflix notes: Stranger Things 3, Sabrina, and Emma Stone series premiere dates

Netflix

There are a number of different stories worth reporting on at the moment from the Netflix TCA panel. With that, let’s hand down some headlines!

Let’s kick things off here with Stranger Things 3which is going to be on hold until the summer of next year. That’s a long wait, but it does still feel like it’s going to be worthwhile. That’s something that the streaming service’s vice president of original content Cindy Holland noted while at the panel today. She didn’t specify any reason for the long delay other than the fact that The Duffer Brothers and executive producer Shawn Levy are committed to delivering the best possible product at the end.

We figure that we’re probably going to be waiting for a while to get some more news on season 3 … but doesn’t the Super Bowl next year feel like the best time to get some additional promotion?

As for some more news when it comes to the TCA tour…

Chilling Adventures of Sabrina – The Netflix series, which comes via Riverdale executive producer Alberto Aguirre-Sacasa, is going to be premiering on Friday, October 26 — what better time for it to come out than the Friday before Halloween? That’s the best possible time to launch a show like this, which we anticipate to be all sorts of creepy and suspenseful from start to finish. It may have some of the lightness from Sabrina, the Teenage Witch, but we also expect it to be significantly darker.

Mad Men star Kiernan Shipka is going to play the part of Sabrina in this new project.

Maniac – Finally, let’s turn to the Emma Stone – Jonah Hill comedy, which definitely seems like it is going to be all sorts of trippy. The show is going to be premiering on Friday, September 21, and you can see the teaser below. This is an ambitious, exciting project, one that is going to feature True Detective director Cary Fukunaga in a prominent role behind the scenes.
