The Resident season 2: Is there any redeeming Dr. Bell?

The Resident

At the moment, production on The Resident season 2 is currently underway — and with that, we’re imagining that there are many powerful stories crafted! We have a lot of confidence in where the story can go based on where it went the first time around.

Yet, we are also left with many questions. Take, for example, whether or not there is a chance to see something different for Dr. Bell. Is there actually hope for him to have a better future, or be a more appreciated part of the Chastain team? Can he actually learn something from his mistakes.

On some level, we do hope that there’s a way to make it happen since Bruce Greenwood is seemingly the opposite of Dr. Bell in real life and we have to imagine, at some point in his life, that the character was a little more likable. What pushed him to become a doctor in the first place, and is there a way to have him focused more on patients than power?

In terms of the overall season 2 story, one of the things that we’d love to see explored the most is whether or not these characters can learn from what happened during season 1. With Dr. Bell, did he learn anything from seeing what Dr. Lane Hunter did? Has he figured out any sort of humility, or is he still going to be desperate to hold on to whatever influence that he can? We’re not sure if he will ever stop throwing some other doctors under the bus to further his own career, but it would be nice to see someone stop by on the show who can really break down some of those walls. As a matter of fact, we think that it’s critical to really pushing the character in an unexpected direction. We’ve seen the vengeful, cruel Dr. Bell — how many other sides are really there?
