Poldark season 4 episode 8 expectations: Ross and Demelza’s future

Poldark season 4 episode 2

Poldark season 4 episode 8 is now officially around the corner, and it goes without saying that this is a big one. It’s the final one of the season!

Whatever sort of closure that the BBC wants to give us for the time being, they’re going to give us here — though we’re not exactly sure that they have pressure to offer up too much, given that there is already a season 5 renewal out there and with that, there really should not be any sort of massive sense or urgency here to throw answers out there regarding every story.

Still, we think that the finale is going to be pivotal for Ross and Demelza to settle some of the issues that they are having, starting of course with what happened in the aftermath of Ross and the duel. A major issue spawned out of this past episode, and it was that Aidan Turner’s character doesn’t have the necessary trust that you would expect for someone in a marriage with his wife. Is there a reason for him to worry because of Hugh? We understand his thinking, but he must also remember on some level that Hugh never would have happened were it not for his own inability to bare his soul. While Ross shouldn’t shoulder all of the blame all of the time, there are enough specific faults of his that can be pointed two for him pushing his wife away.

One of the biggest ones, of course, is Elizabeth, and that is where trouble could lie in the finale for Ross and Demelza further. Elizabeth, in an effort to prove to George that Valentine was in fact his, may be opting to induce labor on her next child. Because of that, her life could be put in danger. When someone’s future is on the line, much of the bluster is stripped away and you are left with one of the purest versions of yourself. Ross’ subconscious could take over when he hears about this, and it could be a way to circle back to some of the feelings that he has for Elizabeth — which has been at the center of this show for a rather long time. We just hope that it doesn’t contradict what he professed has season about the affection that he has for her — something that is there, but not in the deep, romantic way that he has it for Demelza.
