The Affair season 4 episode 7 sneak peek: Noah challenges Helen
Going into this episode, it’s pretty clear that Noah is frustrated and understandably why. He feels like he’s being ignored by his own children and, not only that, he doesn’t think that Helen is communicating with him on anything. He moved all the way out there in order to forge a deeper connection and because of that, it’s understandable that he would want more than what he has been given as of late.
Unfortunately, though, what Noah doesn’t realize is that there are some specific reasons why he is not getting more time with the kids, and why Vik is being so competitive with him for time. These are things that are made a little bit clearer in the sneak peek for this episode (watch here), as Helen tells him that Vik has cancer and likely only has so long to live. He’s just trying to scramble in order to figure out his best way forward and with that, Helen seems to be intent on trying to hold down the fort in some way.
Yet, as powerful and emotional as all of this is (Noah seems to be doing his best to try and be understanding), there is also this sort of unwritten sentiment here in that Helen doesn’t know about everything that Vik has done — including his recent infidelity. While he may be going through a lot, that doesn’t give him the license to devastate Helen by cheating around on her. It’s something that will have to come up in due time; if it doesn’t, the show will be missing out on some of its true potential here.
