Wynonna Earp season 3 episode 2 video: Where Wynonna wakes up

Wynonna Earp season 3 premiere

Want to know what lies ahead on Wynonna Earp season 3 episode 2? Let’s just say that things are not picking up with Wynonna in the best spot.

At the end of this past episode, the title character found herself the victim in a car accident while her sister Waverly was carted away. When she wakes up in this sneak peek below, she found herself bloodied at the bottom of a rocky cliff, struggling to stay afloat. At that point, though, she got a visit from her mother — it may have been in spirit form, but it was her mother nonetheless.

What we appreciate so much about this sneak peek starts with perspective. We haven’t really gotten too many opportunities to crack into the emotional core of who Wynonna’s mother really is. While this isn’t the most revealing preview in the sense that it’s not entirely clear that we’re actually seeing Wynonna’s mother here, at the same exact time it’s valuable to get Wynonna’s projection of her. She finds a way to make it through based on what she would presume her mother would say to her, and through this you get a sense of their relationship outside of some of those prison ways. (We’re, of course, assuming that Wynonna’s mother is a figment, but anything is possible with this show.)

We imagine that, in general, this is going to be one of the most informative episodes of the series to date, but the writing can’t focus too much on exposition just because of some of the high stakes that are clearly present here. That’s what happens when you force a major character like Waverly into danger — somehow, Wynonna’s going to have to figure out how to save her despite her present condition being far from great.
