The Originals season 5 episode 13 is the final episode of the series, and judging by the promo that CarterMatt has for you below is bound to make you emotional.
After all, it’s hard to watch the promo and think anything other than that we’re probably going to be seeing Klaus die at the end of it. He’s prepared to do just about everything that he can in order to save Hope, even if that means sacrificing himself in the process. He seems to be preparing for the end of the road, and beyond just that many familiar faces could be with him to say farewell.
Yet, would the producers of The Originals really make it so obvious that we could see Klaus die over the course of the final episode? We actually think that they would because we don’t feel that the finale is out to shock anyone. It’s about an immortal character looking back on everything that he’s been through in his life and many of the mistakes that he’s made. We do think that Klaus has learned a lot over the final years in New Orleans. Whether or not you want to call him redeemed is up for interpretation, but he is almost certainly quite different.
Could someone else die in his place? If you think about it, we would understand making the case that Elijah is going to do something big and try to sacrifice himself in order to save his brother. That’s the sort of character Elijah is so with that, him trying to fall on his sword wouldn’t be a surprise.
The biggest thing that we have to remember entering this finale is that there hasn’t been any news regarding any The Originals cast members appearing on Legacies other than Danielle Rose Russell. If the finale doesn’t kill Klaus, the challenge then becomes explaining why he isn’t a major presence in his daughter’s life.
