Oh, and there were also advertisements aplenty for Legacies throughout the night in the episode. Were there almost too many? We do think it’s fair to wonder if on some level knowing that the spin-off is coming reduces some of the dramatic tension. Most of the story right now is resolving around whether or not Hope will survive … and we already know that she will. There isn’t too much drama in that department.
Now, there were some really beautiful moments that happened with this episode, most notable Hope falling briefly over to the other side and actually getting to see her mother there. The look on Elijah’s face when he heard about what she heard there was magnificent … but also incredibly painful. We consider that just another reminder of how much passion was there with the relationship between Hayley and Elijah.
On the other side of that, Hope was still in danger … but she had a chance to do so something normal for a change. Watching Hope dance with a boy, to Klaus, was almost more important than preparing for impending doom.
The episode concluded with what feels to be a really good cliffhanger as to some of the danger that is coming up … and then also some of the sacrifices that Klaus is willing to make. Basically, is he ready to die in order to save his daughter?
As a whole, we do think that this was a worthy introduction to at least some of the world of Legacies, though at the moment we’re definitely still curious as to what the show’s going to do with Caroline given that she seems to be firmly entrenched in the Salvatore school. For the time being, there haven’t been any plans announced when it comes to Candice King’s future with the franchise.
