NCIS actor has particularly funny response to Theresa May praise

Duane Henry

As you may have heard, there were recently some surprising headlines when it comes to NCIS season 16 and British Prime Minister Theresa May. As it turns out, she’s quite the fan of the show! It still remains somewhat surprising that she would single out NCIS over almost everything else that is out there in television (especially British television that has some of the best crime show on the planet like Marcella, Happy Valley, Luther and Sherlock), but sometimes you just like what you like.

Given that it is not often that you hear a world leader (politics aside) praise your show, we figured that it was only a matter of time before we ended up hearing one of the show’s actors speak out about it. Today, that is happening in the form of Duane Henry.

Speaking in a new interview with BBC Radio 5, Henry (who played Clayton Reeves on the series) said it was “humbling” to learn that she was a fan of the show, though he also questioned how she could find it “relaxing” as she initially said. Then again, (as Henry notes) maybe it is in comparison to being the Prime Minister of the country. He also then joked that he hopes no one tells her what happens to his character if she is behind. Spoiler alert: Reeves, the only prominently British character on the series, dies near the end of the season while protecting Pauley Perrette’s Abby and we are still salty about him leaving.

As Henry also points out in here, famous people being associated with NCIS is something that has been a part of the series for a while. Former First Lady Michelle Obama has appeared on the show in the past in order to promote a veterans’ initiative and, to go along with that, Samuel L. Jackson and others have admitted that they are fans of the series.

New episodes of NCIS season 16, alas without Henry in the cast, are going to be premiering on CBS come Tuesday, September 25.
