Fox pulls episode of Beat Shazam with Demi Lovato appearance

Beat Shazam

Following the news earlier of her reported overdose, Fox is deciding to step away from a Demi Lovato appearance on Beat Shazam — at least for now.

In a statement (per Deadline), the network had the following to say about the decision:

“Tonight’s previously scheduled episode of Beat Shazam featured a guest appearance by Demi Lovato … In light of recent reports, we have decided to replace the episode of Beat Shazam with another all-new episode. Our thoughts go out to Demi and her family.”

This episode of the game show filmed back in December, long before even the release of Lovato’s recent song “Sober” that documented her recent struggles with addiction. The singer / actress is reportedly now in stable condition, but this is a move being made by Fox out of sensitivity towards Demi’s situation and respect for all of her fans who may not be ready to handle seeing her in a more lighthearted circumstance given the recent headlines. We do hope that this appearance does have a chance to air down the road, given that this will give her fans another chance to see her on TV.

We’ll keep you posted on if there are any additional updates regarding Demi’s condition, and our continued thoughts go out to her family and loved ones during this difficult time. Since the news of her overdose first hit the internet, she has been met with support by many within the industry, whether it be Ellen DeGeneres, Ariana Grande, Ed Sheeran, or many others.

Beat Shazam is a popular, music-based game show on Fox. Given that there are still episodes left to go this season, there may be some other opportunities to air this in the near future. For right now, it’s all about priorities and ensuring that Demi (who previously appeared on another Fox show in The X Factor) is okay. (Photo: Fox.)
