Suits season 8 episode 2 expectations: So much for a warm welcome

Suits season 8 episode 2 is coming onto USA Wednesday night, and one of the central components to this particular episode is going to be seeing how the new firm comes together. The premiere had to deal with resetting the landscape, so now moving forward there is an opportunity to really figure out not only where everyone stands, but also where they want to go from here.

To be a little more specific, the promo below really emphasis Samantha Wheeler and her struggles to fit in with the remainder of the firm, which does make some sense given some of the impressions that she made right out of the gate. She’s a powerful #2 to Robert Zane and someone who basically has no problem finding ways to stir up trouble. She’s strong-willed and will solve any problem at any cost … even if that means angering some of her new colleagues in the process.

This preview does reinforce some of the various things that we had heard about this season ahead of time, including that there would be some tension between Samantha and Donna, mostly because Donna finds her especially hard to predict and anticipate. For most of the series’ run, she has fashioned this as a sort-of-superpower.

Beyond tension with Donna, the promo also indicates that there is going to be a problem with Samantha and Harvey … and then also Louis and Harvey. During the season 8 premiere, it felt like Louis was a little more okay with sitting back and letting Robert and Harvey go at each other. Is that something that he is going to continue to be okay with? Does he want something more for himself, or where does he fit in with the new dynamic of the firm? This is something that he could try to figure out over the course of this episode.
