NCIS has a rather surprising fan: Prime Minister Theresa May

NCIS

Today, we come to you with one of the stranger NCIS stories that we’ve reported over the years here at CarterMatt, mostly because it involves British Prime Minister Theresa May.

A video from earlier today (which you can check out below) is starting to make the rounds across the internet, one in which May is asked to describe her hobbies — which include walking, cooking, and also apparently watching episodes of NCIS when she has the time. It’s such a random show for her to like since there are dozens of popular British crime shows (Luther, Happy Valley, and Marcella are some of our favorites!), and yet she specifically chooses to single out an American crime drama about the Navy. That being said, NCIS is such a wonderful TV comfort food to just dive into without too much of a weekly watching commitment since this show is very procedural. If you want to get away from the world and unwind for an hour, NCIS is a good choice.

Regardless of any political view, this is another reminder of the enormous worldwide following that NCIS has — it’s been named the most-watched series in the entire world many times over, which is why we have gone on to say that some characters like Gibbs and Abby are probably some of the most recognizable anywhere on the globe.

Granted, we do still have many questions, including how in the world Theresa May first got hooked on the show, what her favorite episode is, and also whether or not she believes Ziva is actually still alive. (She is! We’re not giving up on that one and it still remains a lively topic in our household.)

As for whether or not we see May making a cameo on the show … let’s just say that we’re not holding our breath. Michelle Obama actually did make a cameo appearance in a past episode when she was First Lady, but that was also during a time that was far less politically-charged than the one that we’re living in today. Also, she was working in conjunction with the show to support a very specific cause in joining forces.
