Midnight, Texas season 2

Who wants a special San Diego Comic-Con edition of Quick Hits? We know there’s a lot of news breaking today when it comes to the convention and with that, this is a way to get much of it in a dose that is a little bit easier to digest.

Let’s start things off here by sharing some more news regarding Midnight, Texas season 2, which is finally premiering on NBC a little bit later this fall after a really long delay: You’re going to have a chance to see Nestor Carbonell on the series! He, Jaime Ray Newman (The Magicians), and Josh Kelly (UnREAL) are all joining the show for the upcoming season, as it was announced at the panel.

Carbonell and Newman are going to be playing Kai and Patience Lucero, the new owners of the town’s hotel. Given Nestor’s previous work on Bates Motel, isn’t this character a little bit ironic in that way?

Meanwhile, Kelly is set to play an openly-gay demon hunter by the name of Walker Chisum. All three actors will be appearing in multiple episodes over the course of the season. The show is now airing on Fridays, which means watching live will be all the more essential since there will be a smaller pool of viewers around to watch.

As for some more news…

First look at Family Guy season 17

You can see a number of jokes in the new sizzle reel below; we also know that the high school on the series is going to be renamed Adam West High as a tribute to the late Batman actor, who was also famous within the world of the show as the Mayor. There’s going to be a lot of buzzworthy content based on what we’re hearing this season, but it’s also still Family Guy. We don’t really think that all that much is going to be changing at the end of the day.

Finally, take a look (via TVLine) at the first trailer for the CW midseason series, a reboot of the original show. It doesn’t feel exactly like the original, but we feel like that’s probably a good thing. It’s natural to have reservations about new things you love, but for now we’re at least cautiously optimistic that this could end up working.
