Lucifer season 4: Tom Ellis shares filming start date, talks Lucifer, Chloe
In a new interview with TVLine, Ellis confirms that August 13 is the first day of filming for the upcoming season, and beyond this that the writers haven’t really said too much yet as to what’s coming for many of the characters. Tom does say that the premiere episode will touch on much of what you would like for it to in the aftermath of the big season 3 cliffhanger, which features Chloe seeing Lucifer’s devil face for the first time following a showdown with Cain. It’s obvious that this sort of thing is going to leave its mark on her, but Ellis also makes it clear that this reveal will also have an impact on Lucifer himself. Here’s the question that the actor raises about the big moment: “Does it take away from the fact that we both believe that these characters love each other?”
As we’ve said for weeks now, we do think that Lucifer and Chloe’s biggest issue probably won’t be the fact that he is actually the devil; instead, it may be how Chloe was living an artificial reality for most of the series’ run surrounded by characters she did not actually know fully. That is a difficult existence to take on and it could be a central part of the series as we start to inch further into the future.
The full interview is worth watching, as Ellis also talks about what it was like finding out the series was canceled, but then in turn also realizing that it was coming back for more on Netflix. In some ways, the cancellation actually enabled him to experience the Lucifer fandom in a way he would not have had Fox simply renewed the show on their end.
Lucifer season 4 will likely premiere at some point in 2019.
