This Is Us season 3 will have Miguel-focused episode, Jon Huertas confirms
Speaking to TVLine while at San Diego Comic-Con this week, Jon Huertas made it clear that there are some plans in the works already to do a full installment centered around his character:
“I know they’re going to do that … You can’t push Miguel down people’s throats right now, because Jack and Rebecca, it’s everyone’s dream to be in a relationship like that where both people are so dedicated to each other, no matter what. You have to go really slow and really watch your step. I feel like you’re walking through a minefield.”
We do think that there’s value in a Miguel episode, especially since This Is Us has done standalone episodes all about many other characters, including Deja. We do think that giving us more of these stories is a great opportunity to learn and care more about this man, who really hasn’t done anything wrong other than just love someone who Jack loved first. We do think that he cares about Rebecca and is trying his best, though obviously there are likely to be some moments of tension within this relationship. After all, there are with just about every couple out there. How could we expect this one to be really be all that different?
Our feeling is that the perfect time to do a Miguel episode would be in the second half of the third season, which would premiere at some point in 2019. That’s a similar spot to when we did end up seeing the big episode all about Deja on This Is Us in the past.
Obviously, there’s just also a part of us that wants a big Jon Huertas episode just because we loved him on Castle and it would be great to see more of him here.
