911 season 2 promo teases an earthquake, the call center

Fox unveiled one of their first 911 season 2 promos tonight alongside the MLB All-Star Game, and while it doesn’t give much away, it does hint at one particular threat that could be coming in the early going.

This promo gives you an introduction-of-sorts to the new operator played by Jennifer Love Hewitt, but also a huge natural disaster in the form of an earthquake … which is really the sort of thing that would flood any call center. It’s an effective tease from a danger standpoint, and to go along with that, it does have us rather psyched to see what is coming up.

For anyone wondering why there isn’t any real footage to show, it’s simply because filming is just now starting up! Clearly, Fox just wanted to have something to promote the show with during the MLB All-Star Game, and felt understandably so that a quick teaser was the right way to go. They do have a lot at stake with 911 season 2, given that the first season was one of the breakout hits of last season and there is so much more story that is worth being told here. They also need to make sure viewers start to get familiarized with Hewitt’s character in some way, given that she is the newcomer and also that she is replacing Connie Britton, who played Abby in fantastic fashion throughout the first season.

New episodes of 911 are going to start airing on Fox starting on Sunday, September 23 following NFL football. After that, there are going to be new episodes airing in a new timeslot Monday nights at 9:00 p.m. Eastern. Fox didn’t want to wait until January to bring the series back, which is why it is shifting nights after airing on Wednesdays during season 1.
