Absentia season 2: More evidence that filming is coming soon

Absentia season 2

Absentia season 2 filming will be coming up before you know it, and we’ve got even more cause of excitement now that it’s being discussed more!

In a new interview with Digital Journal, Neil Jackson confirmed that he will be heading back to film season 2 soon — which we believe will happen later this summer. While it has been officially renewed in many territories, things have been rather hush-hush on the US front. Nonetheless, there doesn’t seem to be any cause for concern as the thriller, which stars Stana Katic as tortured FBI agent Emily Byrne, will surely have a spot on US television somewhere over the next year or so.

It’s also nice to just see Jackson discussing the series as someone who wants to see more of his character of Jack Byrne moving forward. While we would love to see much of the season 1 cast back for more, there hasn’t been too much confirmed on that front just yet. With a show like Absentia, there is always going to be a good bit of ambiguity just because Emily’s work could really take her anywhere and there could be almost constantly characters who flutter in and out of the story. Jack is certainly a complicated character, but we’ll relish the opportunity to try to understand him better moving forward. (We’ve already made our case for more Papa Byrne.)

Absentia season 2 filming will likely last a good stretch of the fall. Given that there are only ten episodes, we don’t anticipate a super-long, nine-month shoot like you get with many 22-episode shows that are on fall TV. Hopefully, the cast will actually get a chance to film most of their episodes before the bitter cold of winter arrives in Bulgaria. Handling all of the snow in season 1 did give Absentia a certain aesthetic, but we also imagine that it carried with it its own fair share of challenges.
