While Last Man Standing season 7 is actually not coming back to film until next month, Fox has started the promotional push a little early with Tim Allen!
Below, you can see a series of new promos that have been created as a further means of promoting the series. Some of these feature Allen front and center alongside Nancy Travis, whereas others have Allen on his own. It’s clear that all of them are relatively recent, though, given that there are jokes about Family Guy, Fox bringing the show on board, and a few other topics using the same sort of typical humor that you saw through the first six seasons when it aired over on ABC.
It’s pretty clear through these ads how Fox is looking to promote Last Man Standing this season — as a family-focused comedy that is appointment viewing for many people out there. These ads are designed mostly to play to that audience. It’s not so much trying to completely reinvent the wheel; they’re lighthearted and are probably more promotion than the show got over the past few years over at ABC.
We’ve already telegraphed some of our expectations for Last Man Standing over at ABC and, for the time being, we’re not anticipating that the series is going to be getting numbers on par with The Big Bang Theory. It’s Friday nights, many people are out doing other things, and we’re sure that Fox would be thrilled to just get somewhere close to a 1.0 rating in the 18-49 demographic. It’s one of the more interesting case studies that we’re going to see this fall, largely due to the fact that you don’t see shows come back to the air, and on a different network, more than a year past their prior season coming on.
