Humans season 4 renewal odds: Is more coming to AMC?
Why is that? A lot of it just has to do with its connections to Great Britain, as it is a co-production with Channel 4. The performance over in that country matters a great deal, but this time around, it remains to be seen if that is going to help to get the show another batch of episodes.
The most unfortunate thing about the current state of Humans is that for two straight years now, we have witnessed this show suffer some pretty significant year-to-year drops in the 18-49 demographic. Season 3, for example is down more than 30% in this measurement in the live ratings. It’s down less than 20% in total viewers, which we suppose is somewhat good by comparison. While we do understand that live ratings are really just one piece of the puzzle, they are one of the most important pieces given that advertisements help to monetize the show. DVR ratings matter, but those advertisements are not watched anywhere near as much.
If the series is still successful based on its international ratings, it has a good shot of coming back. Based on the US ratings alone, however, we’d be worried. As we said, this is a complicated situation and based on that alone, our advice is to approach the finale tonight as though it could be the last episode of the show. You never want to be blindsided by a cancellation, and the best thing you can do is expect the worst, but hope for the best. Encourage some of your friends to also check out Humans in the future, since that does always help in order to stabilize a show’s future.
