The Resident season 2: Jenna Dewan set to recur

The Resident

Jenna Dewan is going to have quite a year coming up, as she is adding a recurring role in Fox’s The Resident to her resume.

According to TVLine, Dewan will recur throughout the second season and is set to play “Julian Lynn, a sharp and sophisticated medical device rep with an ability to connect with just about anybody. A former dancer, Julian got her life back with the help of a device, and now she’s passionate about helping others do the same. Throughout the season, Julian gradually becomes aware of the lack of transparency in her chosen field and realizes there may be dangerous issues ahead.”

Dewan’s casting is part of a casting shake up. As previously hinted at during Season 1 Merrin Dungey (ex-CEO Claire Thorpe), Melina Kanakaredes (incarcerated oncologist Lane Hunter) and Moran Atias (Chastain Park’s little-seen PR chief Renata Morali) have exited the series. Joining the cast permanently, as previously reported, are Malcolm-Jamal Warner (as Dr. AJ Austin) and Glenn Morshower (as Conrad’s father, Marshall Winthrop). So far Season 2 is shaping up to a another thrilling season. We know that the permanent arrival of Conrad’s father is going to shake this up, especially, for the newly promoted Dr. Randolph Bell. He’s gotten away with a lot due to a tremor in his hand and now it appears like his power is slowing slipping away as Marshall Winthrop doesn’t seem like he will tolerate any mistakes. In addition, Frasier vet Jane Leeves is also joining in the series-regular role of Dr. Kitt Voss, the hospital’s new star orthopedic surgeon.

With Dewan’s Julian Lynn this show appears to be adding an element to the hospital business we rarely see on television, medical equipment. We love that this show is finding new ways to be different from other shows and Dewan’s character is definitely distinct. So for Season 2, what other role could she play? Like Conrad, Devon, and Nic. who are well aware of the corruption that goes on in the hospital, maybe Dewan’s character discovery some corruption in her area of expertise.

Overall, we are excited and intrigued by this casting and character. This show continues to find new ways to make us more interested in the show and we love that. It is still uncertain about how many episodes Dewan will appear in, but hopefully it’s a decent amount.
