Ransom season 3 renewal confirmed by Global, will air again on CBS
Today, Global in Canada confirmed that they have ordered a third iteration of the crime series, which first premiered earlier this spring. This batch of episodes will start filming in Budapest later this year, leading up to the eventual premiere on Global and CBS in America next year. It’s nice to see that everything is getting taken care of when it comes to a renewal now, largely because last year there was such an extended waiting period in order to find out some more news as to whether or not a season 2 was happening.
In a statement, Lisa Godfrey, Vice President of Original Content, for Corus Entertainment (the parent company of Global), had the following to say:
“Continuing Global’s dedication to deliver compelling and powerful original content, we are pleased to renew this intense drama for another season … Teaming up once again with our broadcast and production partners, we are excited to see what type of high stakes situations the crisis resolution team will be up against next season.”
It is nice to see that more Ransom is coming, especially since there is such a perpetual state of ambivalence as to what it takes in order to bring the series back. It has a number of different producers behind it and because it’s not a show owned by CBS in the slightest, it’s hard to really gauge its success based on its American ratings. It also airs on Saturday nights, and that in turn is a time in which expectations for good numbers tend to be a little bit less than some other points of the year.
Among the confirmed returning cast members for Ransom season 3 are Luke Roberts, Nazneen Contractor, Brandon Jay McLaren, and Karen LeBlanc — basically, you’re going to get a chance to see many of your familiar favorites intact.
