Save Shadowhunters update: The Italian Institute Con closes
For starters, there were multiple moments throughout the various panels where it was clear that various cast members want the show back — not only that, but you can sense it in some of the infectious attitude of most of the cast who was there. These experiences are really like no other. They mark a chance to get everyone in one place in order to embrace and celebrate the magnificent world that has been created. We do think that these conventions, in general, are great rallying cries in order to continue the fight. So is the fact that there have been more than 12 million tweets using the #SaveShadowhunters hashtag and there is very little evidence that the battle to get the show a new home is stopping anytime soon.
One thing that may stop for at least the immediate future is getting to see the cast hit the convention circuit hard, largely due to the fact that there are actual episodes of Shadowhunters now to film! The final two episodes of season 3 are going to be worked on in Toronto over the weeks to come, and the struggle with these is simply to make them a fitting ending while also setting the stage for a possible season 4 (if that happens). We know that showrunners Todd Slavkin and Darren Swimmer are doing everything that they possibly can in order to ensure that both requirements are met here. (In case you missed it Slavkin recently said that he doesn’t know anything more than many fans do when it comes to the quest to save the show.)
Remember that new episodes, at least for the time being, are slated to premiere in early 2019. We’d love to see that date adjusted, but we’re not hearing on that subject for now.
