Absentia: Latest odds, ends as season 2 filming approaches
First and foremost, it seems as though many different AXN territories are bracing for the second season already, even though season 1 still needs to air in some territories (it premieres in Mexico a little bit later this month). To date, Canada is the only territory to give us an approximate sense as to when season 2 could premiere — at some point during the 2018-19 season. If that holds, that means by the late spring, at least the first episode could come up on Showcase in the north.
Unfortunately, at the moment there is still no word as to what’s officially happening in America — we don’t think that there’s any real reason to worry, but we’re keeping our eyes peeled. It may just be good timing to confirm a season 2 in the US at the same time in which the second season starts filming over in Europe.
Now, as for everything else story-related, the producers are keeping things very hush-hush. What’s going to be rather interesting when it comes to season 2 is that there are so many different ways in which the story could go. If the show does a time jump, for example, they could end up putting Emily Byrne in a situation that is hard to imagine right now. The same goes for some of the various characters who are around her. We do hope that most of the same cast from season 1 returns, mostly because it would be beneficial to establish some sort of community among Emily — even if it is a rather chaotic one.
Rest assured that once Absentia filming begins, we’re going to have so much more in the way of updates.
