Is Last Week Tonight with John Oliver new tonight? HBO return date
Let’s kick things off here with a sad reminder — unfortunately, there is no new episode tonight. That was first made clear back during the July 1 episode, and that’s a tradition that is going to stick around for a while. July is a time that many shows go on hiatus, and the same can be said for this one.
So when is it coming back? Think two more weeks. July 29 when the next new episode is currently set to air, and in that one, we should get a chance to see some more of the latest headlines — and there could be a LOT to discuss by that point. When there wasn’t a new episode of the show last week, we weren’t altogether upset just because it was a slightly quieter week of news. However, things are a little bit different this time around because of everything that has been happening with President Trump in Europe. Also, today was the World Cup Final and that would’ve been a great opportunity in order to get some sort of substantial update on FIFA. We already know how Oliver feels about the organization — as a matter of fact, it is one of the most notable segments that the series has ever done.
Once the show returns, rest assured that there are many more episodes coming up. Typically, seasons of Last Week Tonight run until a few weeks before the holidays, so we have a hard time thinking that things are going to be altogether different this time around.
