Nashville season 6 episode 14: Is Deacon’s dad still drinking?
Nashville season 6 episode 14 proved one thing more so than any other: This show still has a way to completely rip out your heart at any given moment.
For a little more evidence of this, just take a look at what we had when it comes to the storyline of Deacon’s father. For most of the episode, it appeared as though Gideon was more than Deacon’s preconceived notion of him. It felt like he was starting to make a genuine connection with him and the two were on the road to being in a better place.
Unfortunately, the episode ended with yet another reminder that nothing ultimately stayed that way in the end. The closing minutes of the episode featured an empty bottle in Daphne’s bedroom and with that, a sentiment that he hasn’t changed anywhere near as much as some out there would have hoped. There is, even still, so much more to unpack here.
For Daphne, her career is seemingly on the rise, but the less we have to think about any story revolving around Brad, the better. Personally, we’re hoping that the Alannah storyline is her just setting him up for a massive fall later, but this is not the sort of thing that we can make any sort of huge assumption on until we see it happen.
As for the other part of the episode that was the most important, at least to us, hats off to Juliette for going after Darius. We’re really starting to see more of the Juliette from the earlier seasons fighting back. While it’s pretty clear at the moment that this story is far from over, there are still plenty of questions (at least in our mind) as to how all of this will wrap up.
As a whole, we do think that Nashville season 6 episode 14 was one of the more important episodes this season for furthering the plot … but there are only two episodes left this season. We have no idea how all of these different stories will be tied together in a satisfying way.
