Pose season 2 renewal official at FX, will air in 2019

We were hoping that the news about a Pose season 2 renewal would be coming at some point over the next week or two. Today, FX decided to go ahead and make it official.

Leading up to the penultimate episode of the first season this week, FX confirmed that the second season of the series, which features the largest transgender cast in the history of any primetime scripted show, will be coming in 2019. This is a thought-provoking, revolutionary, and inspiring show, and we certainly do think the world needs more programming like it. We also do think that FX needed the show given that with Ryan Murphy now over at Netflix with a new deal, this is the last one of their programs they are going to be getting from him in the foreseeable future.

In a statement, FX Networks CEO John Landgraf had the following to say on the subject:

“Ryan Murphy has once again revolutionized television with Pose, an incredibly engaging story of creativity, courage, compassion, love and family at a pivotal time in our culture … As television critics have universally acknowledged, there is simply nothing like Pose on TV, so effortlessly excelling on every creative level and earning a place in television history for its infectiously inclusive spirit. We are honored to partner with our producers Ryan, Brad Falchuk, Steven Canals, Nina Jacobson, Brad Simpson, Alexis Martin Woodall and Sherry Marsh, and the incredible cast and crew to continue this groundbreaking journey that is Pose.”

Meanwhile, Fox Television Group Charimen / CEOs Dana Walden and Gary Newman added the following:

“Ryan Murphy and his talented collaborators Brad Falchuk, Nina Jacobson, Brad Simpson, Alexis Martin Woodall and Sherry Marsh have truly outdone themselves with this triumphant show that is as universal in its themes of love and family as it is specific and important and one of a kind … We are so proud of what they’ve achieved and grateful to John and FX for their steadfast belief in the series.”
