Beyond Arrow season 7, what’s the series’ long-term future look like?
We do think that this is probably the case even more so with a superhero show, one that does constantly run the risk of retracing its steps. To date, Oliver has already been through quite a bit already. Take, for example, what he went through losing his parents, losing Laurel, and now having to be in prison while Felicity, William, Diggle, and everyone else remain on the outside.
So how much longer can a show like this go? Hopefully, for a little while longer. There is no word, at least at the moment, on Arrow season 7 being the final one for the series. Because of that, we’re at least reasonably optimistic regarding a season 8. This feels like the sort of show that, if it was going to end, we’d find out about it long in advance. At the moment, it feels more like Arrow is retooling rather than nearing the end. After all, you’ve got Colton Haynes returning as a series regular and, beyond that, we’re going to see some potential big new storylines under the guidance of new showrunner Beth Schwartz. This is a series that does seem happy to try and experiment with some new things.
Is it overly optimistic to think that Arrow makes it so season 14 like Supernatural? Probably, mostly because few shows make it that far. With that being said, though, we wouldn’t be altogether shocked if it makes it to season 10. That would be a great milestone for this series and, so long as the ratings are good and the cast is still interested, we could see it lasting that long on the network.
