The Amazing Race 32 reportedly casting teams of two again

Amazing Race 30 return date

For those who want to see The Amazing Race return (at least to some extent) to its traditional format, we do have a welcome sign in regards to the series’ future.

According to the CBS show’s casting website (thanks to Reality Blurred for the finding) the show is looking for typical teams of two with a preexisting relationship for the upcoming 32nd season of the series, which is filming later this year. This means that after doing only one cycle in 2017, the series is back to its old format of filming a batch of episodes in the summer and another late in the year. This is likely a result of the nice ratings boost season 30 got; whether you want to cite the show’s cast or the timeslot for that is certainly a subject up for debate.

We’re mostly psyched about the return to this format since it’s the foundation for the series. Season 31, premiering most likely in early 2019, is going to feature people from all sorts of various CBS reality shows. Before that, though, we also had some other gimmicky seasons, including one themed just around social-media stars and another where everyone was meeting each other for the very first time right at the start of the race. It just feels like it’s been a while since we’ve had a season featuring normal people who want to go on this race with someone we care about and we really hope this season is a return to form for that. Do we hate the gimmicks of the past few seasons? Not really, mostly because they may have helped to keep The Amazing Race on the air. There was a stretch of time where it did feel like the series was going to end at almost any given moment. It’s a position that it’s been in a few times over the course of its run.

Obviously, we should note that a casting notice doesn’t necessarily mean that the series is going down this road for sure (things can always change and people could be saved for future seasons), but we do personally consider it a step in that direction.
