Going into NCIS: Los Angeles season 10, there is certainly a good bit of fear on the subject of whether or not certain characters will live or die. For the sake of this particular article, though, we want to augment that ever so slightly. Isn’t there a way in which these characters survive and there are still some sort of consequences?
Ultimately, one thing feels pretty clear to us: In the event that Deeks, Callen, Sam, and Kensi manage to make it through this explosion, it’s hard to really envision a scenario in which they dust themselves off and then also get back to work right away. It feels instead like there is a pretty substantial recovery period ahead where everyone has to figure out a way to recover from what happens, even if the show institutes a time jump. On the other side of that you could still see multiple injuries, such as someone learning how to walk again or even someone waking up after a coma.
Why do we wish these sort of unspeakable things on these characters? We don’t, but at the same time we do wish the best for some of the show’s cast. If we’re lucky enough to get Eric Christian Olsen, Chris O’Donnell, LL Cool J, and Daniela Ruah all back, we want them to have great material and to play their characters in an interesting, inspirational light. We definitely think that seeing them recover from something devastating like this a life-altering injury or two could be an interesting way to go.
So how long could the recovery process last? We feel like it would vary from character to character. You could have a couple of them fully recovered following a time jump, while other one takes a lighter load in the field and another works behind the scenes and allows Eric, Nell, or Hidoko (if she’s still alive and returns) more time in the field.
NCIS: Los Angeles season 10 will premiere on CBS this fall. Hopefully, we’ll get a better sense as to what’s coming in the premiere soon.
