Game of Thrones season 8: See Maisie Williams’ bloody farewell
The image below comes courtesy of her official Instagram account, and in it she says an appropriate farewell to the HBO series that has defined a very large part of her life and career as a performer. Let’s put this into perspective: She’s played the Arya Stark character for the bulk of the 2010s and this is the role that really thrust her into the spotlight. With that in mind, we imagine that there is probably something rather fun about the new horizons that she is approaching. She’s got a lot of freedom to do some different things and we’re excited to see her in whatever she does next. We know that one of her major roles in the immediate future is Wolfsbane in the upcoming The New Mutants, but there will likely be more for her beyond that.
Of course, we recognize that we cannot ignore the fact that Williams hashtagged #LastWomanStanding in her Instagram post, but we also don’t think that there is any reason to ring some sort of conspiracy alarm here that Williams is somehow giving something major away when it comes to the show and its future. She is likely just referring to the fact that she was the final woman to wrap up shooting — just remember here, as well, the Game of Thrones often films out of order. That also shouldn’t be meant as some sort of sign that she figures out a way in which to survive.
New episodes of Game of Thrones are slated to premiere at some point in 2019.
