Madam Secretary season 5 spoilers: Is a character looking for a new job?

Madam Secretary season 5

Moving into Madam Secretary season 5, we certainly have plenty of questions — especially when you remember the way that season 4 ended. We know now that Elizabeth McCord is at least considering more strongly a run for office, but it’s not entirely clear precisely when the show is going to actually get to that. Judging from the timing of the last Presidential election, the producers would have to give us a pretty big time jump in order to have another campaign so soon.

Ultimately, though, the point of this article isn’t meant to speculate all that much about Elizabeth getting a potential new job as the leader of the free world; instead, it’s tied a little bit more to a staffer within the State Department might be hunting down a new job. This was first reported on Friday by TVLine, who did not give too many other details.

With this, there are a couple of interesting questions that you have to start wondering. For starters, is this a suggestion that someone is getting fired? Or, is this person just quitting and want to try out something else with their career? Is it something that is just out of everyone’s control? You do also have to wonder if this means that a character could be leaving the show, which we hope isn’t the case; yet, we’ve seen it happen already with Bebe Neuwirth. As a result of that, this is certainly something that you have to be prepared for.

Alas, CBS still has not solidified a specific date as to when you can see the next chapter of Madam Secretary happen. While we remain hopeful that the show will come back on the air with new episodes starting in September, it could also be early March.
