Outlander season 4 notes: Filming update, fun via Caitriona Balfe

Caitriona Balfe

For our afternoon Outlander season 4 story, we turn to none other than series star Caitriona Balfe, who posted a couple of fun updates today on her Twitter … starting with where the show is right now in production.

In the first post below, Balfe gave shout-outs to many of her co-stars and people behind the scenes as today marks the final day of the main unit working together. Basically, a big chunk of production is wrapping up.

A little bit of comedy came out of this tweet for Balfe accidentally posting Colin O’Donoghue (of Once Upon a Time fame) rather than seemingly Colin McFarlane (who is playing Ulysses on the series). This led, in turn, to a particularly funny exchange between O’Donoghue and Richard Rankin, who jokingly welcomed him to the show. (Real talk: Colin O’Donoghue on Outlander would certainly be welcome.)

Filming in total will wrap up this week — meanwhile, the series will return to Starz this November.

As for some other fun…

Balfe also posted earlier today what could be one of the last “heard on set” updates of the season, one suggesting that Sam may have left his guns in his trailer. Given the sort of shape that Sam is in, it doesn’t come as a shock that this is the perfect time for a “welcome to the gun show” sort of joke! In reality, we think that there are some gun battles and action sequences coming up at the end of the season — this is actually not the first time over the past month or two that we’ve seen a “heard on set” update that has to do with guns in some capacity.

Given that this is Outlander, you can’t be shocked that there is going to be something big at the end of the season — however, that doesn’t mean that there is going to be a cliffhanger. Series author Diana Gabaldon already indicated that there was originally going to be a big one, but (at least for the time being) it has been changed. Read more about that by visiting the link here.
