The Walking Dead season 9 Comic-Con panel: Yvette Nicole Brown takes over

Walking Dead season 8

AMC has found a replacement for Chris Hardwick on their upcoming The Walking Dead / Fear the Walking Dead Comic-Con panel, and it’s someone else with a strong familiarity with the franchise.

According to a report from Deadline, frequent Talking Dead guest and former Community star Yvette Nicole Brown is set to moderate the panels on July 20, which are set in the cavernous Hall H of the San Diego Convention Center. This is one of the most significant panels in the history of The Walking Dead as a franchise, mostly in that there are the upcoming exits of both Andrew Lincoln and Lauren Cohan to think about. AMC hasn’t confirmed too much in terms of how they will depart, but you have to think that it will be a conversation topic here.

Of course, the addition of Brown as the moderator for these panels only furthers some of the speculation that eventually, she could find herself as the host of Talking Dead itself. The decision was made for Hardwick to note moderate these panels in the wake of sexual assault allegations made by his ex Chloe Dykstra, ones that he has since denied. There has been no firm decision made on the future of Talking Dead but there has also been zero talk about ending the series. This aftershow is a significant earnings maker for AMC, mostly in that it’s incredibly cheap to produce but also retains a significant number of viewers from the flagship show week to week. In many ways, it was one of the shows that really brought this sort of aftershow programming to the mainstream.

The Walking Dead is going to return to AMC this October, while Fear the Walking Dead will return with the second half of its season in August. At the moment, this seems to be when the network is going to have to make their decision in regards to Hardwick’s future with these programs.
