Dietland episode 7 preview: Plum tackles the road ahead

Moving into Dietland episode 7 coming up on AMC, it certainly feels as though we are seeing Plum move into a different place. After her time in Calliope House, she seems to have uncovered a new-found determination and resolve. She understands more of her inner strength, but that does not necessarily mean that she fully understands herself just yet. Some of the upcoming episodes are going to be, at least in part, about her finding more of her voice and also better determining just what she wants the remainder of her life to look like. There are still a number of other things that she has to learn and we will see some of these play out over the course of the coming weeks.

While, of course, AMC is not giving away too much here in advance of the story coming up, the attached synopsis does give you at least a small sense as to what’s coming:

In the wake of her life-altering revelation, Plum struggles to discover her true voice; a new attack threatens to unravel Jennifer’s movement.

All signs point towards this being one of the most important episodes just from the vantage point of better understanding who everyone is and, beyond that, also what the future for this series is really going to be. We’re getting close to the home stretch now and it feels like Plum’s time to shine is still coming. She’s been mistreated and at times hiding underneath the spotlight, but we are getting near a point now where some of her truth will come to light. She has a number of necessary qualities to be an important force within this world, including intelligence and determination. We hope that there will also be something resembling empathy for her given that she does understand the feelings of others perhaps more than many other characters. After all, she’s been through quiet a bit.
