Animal Kingdom, Claws renewed for season 4, season 3 by TNT
Today, the network confirmed that they have renewed these series for a season 4 and season 3, respectively, after showing some ratings growth both in terms of live numbers and also the 18-49 demographic. We want to make sure each show gets their proper due, so let’s spend a moment breaking them down individually.
Animal Kingdom – When it comes to this particular show, one of the biggest achievements is mostly the face that it has managed to be withstand the departure of Scott Speedman so successfully. Even though he was considered to be the biggest star that Animal Kingdom had to offer, we’ve seen very little evidence of ratings slippage or fatigue. The interest in the series is there as much as ever, and that is with us still getting to know Denis Leary a little bit better through the lens of this show.
Claws – Meanwhile, the Niecy Nash series has already established itself as one of the most interesting genre-bending series on television, as it has shown itself willing to take incredibly big risks. It’s super-creative, really funny at times, but also heartbreaking and dramatic at others. We’ve certainly seen here that there is a great deal that TNT has to be proud of.
Judging on the timing of these renewals, there should easily be enough time for these shows to crank out another season by the summer of 2019. Given their ratings success this year, we have a hard time imagining that the folks over at TNT are going to be altogether eager to shift either show over to a different timeslot.
