Good Witch season 5 renewal: Will it happen on Hallmark Channel?
The first thing that we really should recognize here is that Good Witch may be, sneakily, one of the biggest hits on cable. Even if it doesn’t exactly generate a lot of big publicity, at the same time it really doesn’t need to since it has figured out a way to routinely draw strong ratings. Take, for example, the numbers this season. The show averaged around a 0.2 rating in the 18-49 demographic and also 2.13 million viewers. Basically, this is the sort of year-to-year retention that the vast majority of networks out there dream of. If it can keep this going, there is a reasonably good shot that we are going to see a Good Witch season 5 down the road.
So why hasn’t that renewal come out yet? It’s hard to say for certain, but we imagine that it will be soon. While Hallmark doesn’t have a huge amount of original, scripted series, Good Witch remains one of the most popular ones they have alongside When Calls the Heart. These two shows have set a very solid foundation and we’re certainly intrigued to see what will happen for them moving forward. Also, we wouldn’t be surprised down the road if there are some more series ordered in order to give the network a more robust lineup than ever.
Hopefully, there will be some more news announced in the coming months, and beyond that our anticipation is that the fifth season, if it happens, will premiere at some point in the spring of 2019. Given the retention with season 4, it’s hard to imagine why Hallmark would want to move it all that much.
