Pose episode 6 preview: ‘Love is the Message’

Pose episode 4

When Pose episode 6 airs on FX in one week’s time, be prepared for an hour of TV that is powerful, but also hopefully meaningful and rather-emotional at the same time. This is a chance to see people give back to their community — or at least those within Pray Tell. We like that this is another opportunity to show that even back within an era where acceptance wasn’t exactly a widespread quality, these people were still intent on doing everything that they could for those suffering from AIDS. There are a lot of pain and hardship among these characters, but there is a cognizance here at the same time that there are others who do have it worse.

Below, the Pose episode 6 synopsis offers up some more information when it comes to what lies ahead:

Pray Tell organizes a cabaret for the AIDS ward at a local hospital. Written by Ryan Murphy, Janet Mock; directed by Janet Mock.

Just in case you didn’t know already that this was going to be an important episode, having Murphy on board as a co-writer is all the evidence you need.

The best news of all

The last episode of Pose on June 24 ended up being one of the most successful ones of the entire series to date. Just in terms of live+same-day ratings at all, the series managed to generate a 0.3 rating in the 18-49 demographic coupled with almost 720,000 viewers. While we didn’t think that the series was in a heck of a lot of danger before these numbers came in, this is that extra bit of validation that unless something goes terribly awry, there is a reasonably good chance that it will be renewed for a second season. It’s relevant, well-written, and completely different from any other series that is out there.
