Elementary season 6: Should Alfredo return this season?
One of the valuable things that comes with getting Alfredo back on the show is that there’s an emotional connection there between the two that you don’t see almost anywhere else. Alfredo understands Sherlock’s addiction because he’s been through it, and while they come from very different walks of life, they deal with the same impulses and difficulties. Alfredo was also a very interesting way in which to introduce the conflict about brothers on this past episode, one that led to Sherlock eventually discovering that Mycroft was dead.
If there is one other extremely interesting thing about Alfredo, it is viewing his relationship with Sherlock to the one that Michael tried to form earlier this season. This does bring us to another question and one that makes us very nervous: Could Michael target Alfredo later this season? There is a valuable case to be made for it, largely because Michael may not be altogether fond of someone else understanding Sherlock’s addiction. It makes him an easy target if he starts to get to the point of taking away from Sherlock people he loves. Michael is someone who is getting his fix from watching Sherlock get emotionally invested in his cases. Save for maybe Joan, there aren’t too many other people his life that Michael could take away.

Of course, we do have an additional reason to want to see Alfredo back on Elementary season 6, and that is an opportunity to get more of Ato Essandoh back on the series. Why wouldn’t we want to see more of him on the show? In between Chicago Med, this show, and Altered Carbon, he’s had a chance to do a pretty wide array of great stuff as of late.
