Shadowhunters bosses respond to Times Square billboard
One thing that we do want to make clear here is that when Slavkin says that he’s worked on many canceled shows before, he’s right — some of his past credits (alongside Swimmer) include Alphas, No Ordinary Family, Guilt, and the revival of Melrose Place. Some of those shows had devoted audiences, but after their cancellations none inspired the passion and the constant fight that we’ve seen from Shadowhunters to date. This is something special just as the show itself is something special. The billboard is just one of many different acts that we’ve seen from a fandom that isn’t giving up just yet.
We don’t think that the efforts to save the show behind the scenes are over and done with yet, either. If there was no hope that the series could find a future home, don’t you think that message would be conveyed? The last thing that anyone wants to do is allow fans to hold onto false hope, and with that, we don’t exactly think that is happening here, either. What makes the waiting hard is the unknown of it all, given that good news could come in a split-second or without warning. It’s an uphill battle in the first place, but fighting to save the show is almost like running uphill not knowing when you are going to make it to the top.
For now, keep the #SaveShadowhunters campaign going!
