Blue Bloods season 9: Tom Selleck teases Frank’s conflict over Jamie, Eddie

Blue Bloods season 9

Blue Bloods season 9 may not be on the air until we get around to September / early October, but you don’t have to wait to get some more news from none other than Tom Selleck! Over the past eight seasons, Selleck has been the anchor of the series alongside Donnie Wahlberg as Frank, the set-in-his-ways family patriarch and also the police commissioner of New York City. He’s a guy who often tries to do the right thing, but there are certainly bumps in the road that you are going to encounter every step of the way.

Moving into season 9, one of the biggest storylines seems to be what happened with Eddie and Jamie in the finale and Frank’s reaction to it, in turn. These two characters got engaged, and while Frank is happy for his son, he also has to think in terms of his cop. He showed some hesitation to the idea of them being engaged, and per Selleck, this is what could end up continuing moving forward.

Speaking on this subject via TVInsider, here is what Selleck had to say:

“Most cops would say it could affect one’s judgment. Frank wants his son to be happy, and yet he’s got this hyperactive sense of responsibility. He already lost one son in the line of duty.”

Meanwhile, Tom also teases to the publication that you are going to see Erin in season 9 receive even more responsibilities at the District Attorney’s Office — she is moving into a higher role, but with that also comes more potential tension with Frank since they are going to be at odds with each other even more than they have been on the series to date. As someone who strives to see as many good performances as possible, we’re more than happy about this.

Blue Bloods season 9 will hopefully have an official premiere date later this year. Once there is more news out there, we will have it for you here.
