Save Shadowhunters update: Nearly 10 million tweets leading up to billboard reveal

Shadowhunters season 3 cast

In today’s Save Shadowhunters update, we want to start by highlighting another incredible achievement: Getting nearly 10 million tweets under a single hashtag in #SaveShadowhunters.

The goal for many fans of the currently-canceled Freeform series is simple: To get past the 10 million threshold tomorrow by the time that the billboard as is first revealed in New York’s Times Square. This is the second straight week where the fan base has come out with some sort of big move to get the attention of various networks / streaming homes. This follows their move to fly an airplane banner over Netflix — this time around, there is no specific provider that fans are seeking out, which means that this sort of move could catch the attention of just about anyone.

In between this, raising more than $17,000 for The Trevor Project, and campaigning constantly across social media, these are fans who are determined and are not giving up.

How much hope should there still be? Quite a bit, mostly because it should be clear to just about everyone at this point that decisions can turn on a dime and often, all it takes is having just one streaming provider or network interested to kick off some negotiations in secret. All signs point to everyone involved behind the scenes wanting to continue and this really just coming down to finding a way to generate the interest of some corporate bigwigs.

While networks may be big business and often have to think in terms of the bottom line, rest assured that many of them also want to be loved! Imagine how much goodwill would come out of one of these networks opting to bring Shadowhunters back on the air. We’re sure that there are some potential homes out there who are well aware of that and would embrace the opportunity to make many fans happy by releasing some great news on the subject of one of their favorite shows — provided, of course, they found a way to do so while feeling confident they could make some money.

Of course, we will be back tomorrow with more coverage of the billboard in Times Square — and we of course encourage anyone who is in the area to send us photos on Twitter (please indicator who the photographer is in the tweet). We may use some for a future tweet!
