Supergirl’s Odette Annable lands first post-show project alongside husband

Supergirl season 3 episode 19

Following her time playing Samantha Arias a.k.a. Reign over on The CW’s Supergirlit looks like there is another opportunity already out there to see Odette Annable on television.

According to a report via Deadline, Freeform has begun production on their upcoming holiday movie entitled No Sleep ‘Till Christmas, where Odette is set to star alongside her real-life husband Dave. This is going to air during the network’s annual holiday programming known as “25 Days of Christmas.”

The idea of this movie seems to be for the two actors to do something that’s totally different — and for Odette, to not suddenly become an alter ego in the middle of it desperate to destroy the entire world. Per the network, the movie “centers on two insomniac strangers plagued by exhaustion. Lizzie is a high-end event planner preparing for her own life’s biggest event — her wedding. She lies awake nightly while her devoted fiancé Josh rests peacefully, unaware of how to solve her issue. When a sleep-deprived incident causes her to run into Billy, a low-key bartender who is just as sleepless and frustrated as she is, they discover that they can only fall asleep while next to each other. What seems like an odd coincidence, and frankly a disruption to their lives, might be more meaningful than they’d like to admit.”

Basically, this is going to be a lighthearted bit of holiday fun, something that falls in tradition with what the network has done in the past around Christmastime. Supergirl producers have already said that they are open to bringing Odette back in the future as Samantha Arias, provided that there is a good story to tell with her. For the time being, though, it doesn’t appear as though there is anything planned out for sure. Dave Annable, meanwhile, recently filmed a part for Yellowstone, which is airing this summer on the Paramount Network and got off to a very good start in the ratings.

Excited for this to be Odette’s first role post-Supergirl, and what do you want to see next for some other actors departing as regulars including Jeremy Jordan and Chris Wood? Share below!
