The Expanse season 4 premiere date hopes over on Amazon
Let’s start with this simple reminder that the show had quite the crazy road to even get to this point. Originally, Syfy had canceled the series, which it didn’t have much of a stake in to begin with given that it was coming from an outside studio. However, soon after that Amazon emerged as a likely contender given its streaming rights and also the fondness that company founder Jeff Bezos had for the source material. Eventually the pickup was officially announced, and the writers room are already at work now in crafting new episodes. What this means is that filming can begin without too much of a delay and beyond that, the series is probably going to premiere at some point in 2019.
Unfortunately, it’s hard to really get more specific than that. We’d lean towards a debut in either the summer or early fall, mostly in that Amazon (like their competitors over at Netflix) like to put up all of their episodes at once. With that in mind, they have to wait until all of them are completed before the show can launch. We do personally hope for a launch at some point in summer, mostly because that feels like the perfect time to air a series like this. There’s a little less of a concern for competition and this is one of those perfect summer escape shows that you can watch and really just be taken away from everything else that is happening within the world.
Hopefully, Amazon didn’t just renew the show to stream one season of it. If the viewership is there (unfortunately, this is information that isn’t always released publicly), we more than expect that there’s going to be a chance for a season 5 at some point down the line.
