Cable Ratings: Dietland, Westworld, Claws, and The Affair
Dietland – Let’s start with the AMC series, which drew a 0.1 rating in the 18-49 demographic and just over 400,000 viewers, its lowest number yet. That certainly doesn’t bode well for the show’s future, and while we personally do think it’s incredibly compelling, it’s also got a premise that is polarizing by nature. Hopefully, it’s faring a little bit better via DVR.
The Affair – The good news here is that the Showtime series brought in close to 460,000 viewers, which isn’t too much of a drop from the premiere in live viewing. With this show, though, what matters far more than live viewing are the total number of subscribers it is bringing in — we don’t foresee Showtime ending it because it’s a staple of their programming.
Westworld – You would’ve thought that the finale for the show would’ve drawn some better ratings, but no so much — instead, it posted 1.56 million total, a slight drop from the week prior. It’s already coming back for a season 3 and ultimately, its success stems far beyond just the live numbers. This is, almost without dispute, one of the most-successful series that HBO has.
Claws – For the first time all season, the series did slip down to a 0.4 rating. Is that a bit of a bummer? Sure, but at the same time, we don’t think that it’s in any danger of going anywhere. This is one of TNT’s craziest and most successful shows right now and there’s pretty much zero incentive to have it go the way of the dodo for at least a little while.
