Shadowhunters season 3 isn’t leaving Hulu early

Shadowhunters season 3 spoilers

One of the latest Shadowhunters rumors has revolved around the idea that the Freeform series was set to expire on Hulu later this month — and some of the implications that could come along with that. It was understandable that many would want to think that this was a sign things were happening potentially behind the scenes; alas, all of that speculation seems to be premature at the moment.

According to TVLine, the first half of Shadowhunters season 3 is not leaving Hulu later this month. That information was apparently, released in error. The show is not expiring early, so no matter what happens with the future of the show, you can continue to watch episodes for some time.

Personally, even if the show was saved elsewhere we don’t think that the old episodes would expire from Hulu so early given that the streaming service still probably wants to make money on them while they still can. Heck, by some measures it feels like Hulu remains one of the biggest potential suitors to pick up the show. It already has the streaming rights and beyond that, it doesn’t feel like the service has anywhere enough original shows that cater to this particular demographic. Shadowhunters is a great opportunity for them, if they choose to pick it up.

Unfortunately, there hasn’t been too much movement on the public front in order to find Shadowhunters some sort of new network, but this really doesn’t come as all that much of a surprise to us. Typically with these sort of efforts to save a series, almost everything happens behind the scenes and you don’t hear about the announcement until it actually happens. That was the case with Lucifer being picked up over at Netflix, and that could end up being the case here. Shadowhunters remains an underdog in its battle to get a new home, but we thought the same for Lucifer and many other shows that were previously canceled. It’s always going to be an uphill battle, and the best thing we recommend is to keep tweeting, keep campaigning, and do your part in order to get the word out that this is a show worth saving.
