Hannibal convention Fannibal Fest returning for second straight year
As many loyal CarterMatt readers know, we love to write about Hannibal however often that we possibly can. Unfortunately, it’s been three years since the series concluded (for now) and we’re still having a hard time getting over that – to say we are still salty about it’s cancellation would be an understatement.
While we do wait for the fateful day in which someone announces that the once-canceled series will return (never quite giving up hope on that), for now let’s celebrate the second annual Fannibal Fest convention that is coming from October 11-14.
This year, the convention is happening at the Marriott Toronto Airport Hotel and will be featuring a wide array of people familiar with the show, whether it be performer Hettienne Park (Beverly Katz), episode director Vincenzo Natali, famed food stylist Janice Poon, or fight/stunt coordinator Tommy Chang. Horror baker Annabel de Vetten will also be making an appearance, with further guest announcements coming in the future. The convention is set to host an “Eat the Rude” dinner led by Janice Poon, panels, Hannibal props, a cosplay competition, and bus tours of some of the filming locations in the city. You will also have vendor and artist tables, largely because it wouldn’t be a convention without lots of swag to buy.
Why should you attend?
For starters, if you love Hannibal and other fans of the show it feels like a must, especially if you are close to the Greater Toronto Area. It does also help to keep enthusiasm alive for a series that isn’t quite dead yet and with all of the shows being rebooted right now it never hurts to have Hannibal at the forefront of people’s minds. Everyone from Bryan Fuller to Hugh Dancy to Mads Mikkelsen has expressed an interest in revisiting the property at some point, and we mostly just hope that we’re going to have a chance to see it happen. For now though, get ready to eat, drink, and be merry with other Fannibals a little bit later this year.
Do you still want more Hannibal?
