Lucifer, Shadowhunters fans team up to #SaveShadowhunters

Shadowhunters season 2 finale reviewEven though this is the weekend and things are pretty light on the Shadowhunters news front, there is one thing we want to bring to your attention for Monday.

One of the great things that have really come out of the past month is unify fandoms in a way which you don’t really see all that often. We’ve had Shadowhunters fans fighting to save Lucifer, and now we’ve got fans of Lucifer working in order to save Shadowhunters. The success of that show getting another season over at Netflix is an inspirational story to every other series out there. Why? Much of it has to do with the enormous social-media imprint that it created in the weeks that followed it coming on the air. The campaigns were one of the reasons why the show ended up being renewed — it got Netflix’s attention since it showed devotion. These providers all have their own original programming, so for them to bring on someone else, they really have to think that the series is actually worth their time. That is not always an easy thing to do.

Here’s the good news for everyone looking to make as big of a social-media imprint as possible: Tomorrow starting at 3:00 p.m. Eastern time (12:00 p.m. Pacific), Lucifer and Shadowhunters fans are teaming up in order to help promote both shows — and especially save the latter from cancellation. The hashtags to use are #LuciferSaved and #SaveShadowhunters.

Just think of things this way, if you are a Netflix, an Amazon, an Apple, or any other streaming platform — how impressed are you going to be in the event that #SaveShadowhunters is trending so long after it was initially canceled? It’s a real sign that this is a fandom that isn’t going away and with that, it’s worthy of your time and attention. One of the good things about this Twitter campaign is that it should help to case a wide net — it’s not about looking to one specific network or streaming provider. Instead, it should appeal to anyone out there who wants more of the series.
