NCIS season 16: Wilmer Valderrama signs new two-year deal

Wilmer Valderrama

For anyone who was worried about the future of Wilmer Valderrama on NCISdon’t be — the actor has officially signed a new two-year deal that brings him through season 17.

While there was never really any fear that Valderrama was going to leave the series (there had been zero news on the subject), hearing the announcement of the new contract via Deadline does make us very much excited. Nick Torres has grown overtime into one of the show’s most welcome new additions, someone who follows his own rules but also has a big heart and is passionate for justice at the same time.

To go along with this new deal, Valderrama has also officially inked a producing pact with CBS Television Studios that will allow his WV Entertainment company to develop scripted and unscripted content. The report notes that there is a strong emphasis on diversity there, as Valderrama wants to help produce projects that further reflect what the world is like today. CBS is increasingly working to improve representation across many of their different shows and this move behind the scenes is in line with that.

In a statement, Wilmer had the following to say about getting this particular opportunity:

“As someone who immigrated to the United States at 14 years old, I am immensely passionate about this opportunity to create engaging and culturally relevant projects with CBS Television Studios.”

Valderrama is far from the first actor within the NCIS world to do some producing an addition to being a part of the series. To go along with that, there are many other actors in CBS that have a similar sort of arrangement. One of the most notable ones is Johnny Galecki of The Big Bang Theory, whose show Living Biblically aired on CBS This past season.

As for what we want to see for Nick Torres in the near future, here’s to hoping for some more high octane action and seeing the continual development of his relationship with Bishop. We know that there is a chance for that to become something more than it is at present.
